Assure Primary and Urgent Care: A Walk-In Visit with Our Son

On March 26, I took my son to Assure Primary and Urgent Care in Mountain House after a worrying coughing episode. His cough had been severe for a few days, and that morning we noticed his phlegm had a pinkish tint. We couldn’t tell whether it was blood, and to be safe we decided to get him seen the same day.

Why We Chose Assure Primary and Urgent Care

Friends had recommended CVS Minute Clinic, but the nearest location was a bit of a drive. Assure Primary and Urgent Care is right here in Mountain House, had strong reviews, and accepted walk-ins — so we headed there instead.

Their walk-in hours ended at 5:30 PM, and we arrived a few minutes past the cutoff. After a brief conversation at the front desk, the staff still agreed to see us. Small moments like that matter when you have a sick kid and no appointment.

The Visit

  • Wait time was reasonable — not too short, not too long.
  • The physician was patient, took time to listen, and explained things clearly.
  • Tests and treatment included the right diagnostics and an on-site nebulizer session.
  • Prescriptions were sent in so we could start treatment right away.

By the next day, his cough had improved significantly. As an unexpected bonus, his seasonal allergy symptoms also eased up noticeably in the days that followed.

Prescriptions from the visit: Children's Loratadine oral solution and Albuterol Sulfate HFA inhalation aerosol

Cost

The pricing was very reasonable — much more approachable than what we’d expected from urgent care in this area. After insurance, our final out-of-pocket cost was $22.65 on a $515 billed amount — covering the office visit, a SARS-CoV-2/Influenza A&B test, a Strep A assay, and the in-office nebulizer (airway inhalation) treatment.

Claim cost breakdown: $515 billed, $22.65 out-of-pocket after plan discount and insurance

Verdict

If you’re looking for a nearby walk-in clinic with patient, attentive staff and fair pricing, I strongly recommend Assure Primary and Urgent Care. Great experience for our family, and we would absolutely go back.
